The Victoria Racing Club has been hit by ransomware, with the Medusa group claiming credit for gaining access to the organisation’s network on 13 June.

Thirty documents from the club have been published online, with the ransomware group indicating that it would wait for another five days before taking any further action.

VRC said on the evening of June 14 that the club had suffered a cyber incident and was communicating with “employees, members, partners and sponsors to inform them that the VRC recently experienced a cyber incident”. Confirming that the VRC had informed the Australian Cyber Security Centre of the attack, and that the club would be operating as normal

The Medusa group claims it has stolen 128.1GB of data from the club and is asking for US$700,000 from anyone who wants to either delete the data or else download it.
